hey i'm yafi
i'm a junior at penn state studying cs & math and learning a bunch more stuff. i like to code and design fun things that make people say "oh shit thats cool".
last summer, i interned at jade global as a full-stack developer and made an internal tool to help with getting leads with the help of snowflake. right now, i'm experimenting with llm evaluation and alignment research, learning more combinatorics than my schedule can realistically support, and trying to find a startup where i can build be creative around smart people. i'm currently the web director for penn state ACM and also a learning assistant for a computer architecture class which is pretty nice.
apart from that, things that i'm into are:
- design : mostly websites. i appreciate products that feel thoughtful, intuitive, and a little fun to use.
- ai safety / alignment : mostly have fun with independent research or projects. gives me a better understanding of how llms work and how to better prompt them according to our needs.
- sports : soccer, bouldering, running, swimming, and more.
- reading autobiographies : i like reading about how everyone's different experiences shaped their lives. some of my favorites are autobiographies of trevor noah, ab de villiers, and pelé.
- travelling : i've lived in and visited a few different places, and each one changed how i think about people, work, and life. i like wandering through big cities and exploring nature equally.
- combinatorics & number theory : just got into this last semester. was always interested in math but i took an intro to combinatorics class and the professor made it really interesting and fun. visulalizing and observing patterns seems cool to me.
